Why I decided to run for Town Council

My

My wife and I have lived in the Town of Vienna for 29 years, and raised our kids here.

Initially, we rented a one-level rambler on James Drive SE, bought our first place on Commons Drive NW, and then moved across town into our house on MacArthur Avenue NE. That's important because I personally know what its like to live in three of the four corners of Vienna.

During those years, I served as President of the Vienna Commons Association solving parking issues, replacing pine trees with oaks and maples, replacing the children's playground, and keeping the community financially sound.

When we moved, I joined the North East Vienna Citizens Association serving on a committee to address the proposed rebuilding of Beulah Road, the removal of trees and location of utility poles. After the rebuild, to ensure the safety of our kids and walkers, I successfully petitioned the Town Council to agree to install two flashing crosswalk signals at Ayr Hill and MacArthur Avenues. I currently serve as Vice President of NEVCA and was the moderator of multiple Meet the Candidates Forums.

I've enjoyed time volunteering with the Wolftrap PTA organizing the "Edison Science Expo" and as the head coach of a boys  VYI U13 lacrosse team. And, served as the grill guy at our annual neighborhood block party.

People often mention to me that the Town of Vienna has a unique vibe that's highly sought after in today's busy world.

I agree, that "vibe" is real, and you probably get what they are seeing too.

People come here to shop, go to our restaurants, grab coffee, attend community events, find a fitness studio, play sports, walk, run, bike and make Vienna an important part of their lives. It's a community where they meet people, have conversations, get involved, share their life and professional experience, and to live. Vienna is vibrant!

My decision to run and, hopefully, serve on Town Council was clear.

I care about maintaining and improving Vienna for you, your family, and your friends.

I'd appreciate your vote on November 4th.
